Incidentally detected synchronous endometrium and sigmoid colon cancer; a case report [Tesadüfi saptanan eş zamanli endometrium ve sigmoid kolon kanser; bir olgu sunumu]
Co-existence of endometrium and colon cancers that are not related a genetic base are randomly seen. We aimed to present a case with synchronous primary endometrium and colon cancers. A 49-year-old women with no familial malignancy history admitted to our clinic with an abnormal uterine bleeding. The endometrial biopsi was reported as grade 3 endometrioid type adenocarcinoma. At the laparatomy, an incidental tumor in sigmoid colon was detected. The total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy, appendectomy, infracolic omentectomy, bilateral pelvic and paraaortic lymph adenectomy, left hemicolectomy and end-to-end anastomosis were performed. The final histopathological evaluation was reported as grade 3 endometrioid type adenocarcinoma and well-diffentiated adenocarcinoma of sigmoid colon. As a result, preoperative investigation of co-existing cancers should be meticulously carried out in women with no and unknown familial cancer history. © 2017 Gunes Kitap Kirtasiye.
