Sürûrî'nin hezliyyât'ının “tevârih” bölümünden tarihî yansımalar

Abstract

Ebced, Arap harflerine verilen sayısal değerler sistemidir. Ebced hesabı, Müslüman halkın hayatının içinde olmuş ve halk, hayatının pek çok alanında bu yönteme başvurmuştur. Bunlardan biri de tarih düşürmedir. Tarih düşürme; Arap, İran ve Türk edebiyatlarında şairlerin hünerlerini göstermek için başvurdukları bir yöntemdir. Toplumdan kopuk bir edebiyat olarak nitelendirilen divan edebiyatı şairleri toplumdan ve toplumsal olaylardan uzak kalmadıklarını özellikle tarih düşürdükleri şiirlerinde göstermişlerdir. Bu şiirler doğum, ölüm, tahta çıkış, savaş, zafer, sefer, barış, göreve atanma, görevden azl, evlenme, sünnet, sakal bırakma, yangın, idam gibi çeşitli toplumsal olaylar ve saray, çeşme, hamam, han, cami, medrese gibi yerlerin yapımı, onarımı için yazılmıştır. Tarih düşüren şairlerden biri de tarih düşürmedeki başarısı herkes tarafından takdir edilen 18. yüzyıl sonu 19. yüzyıl başlarında yaşamış olan Sürûrî'dir. Sürûrî'nin gerek Dîvân'ında gerek Hezliyyât'ında gerekse Sürûrî Mecmu'ası adlı eserinde pek çok tarih manzumesi bulunmaktadır. Eserlerinden biri olan Hezliyyât'ının 120 tarih kıt'ası bulunan “Tevârih” bölümünde şair, zalim âyânlardan halka, Napolyon Bonapart'tan Rus Çariçesine, doğumdan ölüme pek çok olaya tarih düşürmüştür. Bu makalede, şairin bu eserinde düşürdüğü tarihlerin işaret ettiği dönemin toplumsal olaylarına değinilecektir.

Numerology or ebced refers to numerical values given to the letters of the Arabic language. Ebced has been used by Muslims in many fields of daily life. One of such uses is chronogram. Chronogram is mostly employed by Arab, Persian and Turkish poets in order to show their ability. Although it is widely argued that divan literature is strictly separated from society and social events, the use of chronograms indicate the opposite view. Divan poems were mostly written for social events such as birth, death, accession to the throne, war, peace, victory, dismissal or appointment, marriage, sünnet, fire, puberty and execution. They were also written for construction or maintenance of palaces, fountains, public baths, and mosques. One of the divan poets known for his significant ability in chronogram is Sürûrî. He lived at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century. There are many historical poems in his works, namely Dîvân, Hezliyyât and Tarih Mecmu'ası (Journal of History). In Hezliyyât, the section named “Tevârih” is made of 120 verses all of which are about history. In this section the poet used chronogram in order to state birth and death dates of many famous figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Russian Czarina and so on. This study aims at revealing the significant social events of that period expressed by the poet through chronograms.
