Yenihayat barajı'nı besleyen rıfat suyu'nun su kalite analizi

This study was conducted to determine the water quality of the Rıfat Stream, which feeds the Yenihayat Dam, which plays a critical role in the drinking water supply of Çorum province. Physicochemical and biological monitoring studies were conducted at five different sampling points, covering four different seasons. Macrozoobenthos were identified at the family level and analyzed using ecological indices such as BMWP, ASPT, FBI, and %EPT. Various physicochemical parameters were also measured on-site, and the data were evaluated according to regulatory criteria. The results showed that high phosphorus levels and low biotic index values at RFT-3 and RFT-4 points indicate serious deterioration in water quality. In contrast, the high BMWP and %EPT values observed at RFT-1 and RFT-5 points reflect healthier habitat conditions. Correlation analyses revealed a strong negative correlation between high phosphorus levels and low %EPT rates, and that dissolved oxygen is one of the factors that directly affects ecological quality. The study results provide a scientific basis for developing management strategies for the protection, monitoring and improvement of water resources in the region; they also serve as an example for biological monitoring-based applications for similar Central Anatolian transition regions.
