Öğe Holistik yaklaşım bağlamında insanın inanç arayışı(Hitit Üniversitesi, 2025) Kaleli, Semrin; Cengil, MuammerThis thesis aims to examine the human search for meaning and belief through a holistic perspective, exploring how belief systems affect one's psychological, spiritual, and physical integrity. The human being is not merely a biological or cognitive entity, but also a multidimensional and transcendent structure with emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions. This complex structure provides a fundamental framework for understanding how individuals form beliefs. In this context, the relationship between belief, knowledge, intuition, and language is addressed through philosophical and psychological inquiries. Approaches that attempt to transcend the boundaries of reason and experience seek to ground the human tendency toward the transcendent. These perspectives emphasize that belief cannot be fully explained by rational knowledge alone, but is also shaped by emotions, intuitions, existential experiences, and symbolic representations. Other perspectives that focus on human nature, the desire for freedom, and emotional processes emphasize that belief is not solely based on reason, but also deeply rooted in one's inner experience and psychological processes. Within this framework, the individual's search for self-realization and integrity is evaluated from a multilayered perspective. An individual's belief systems are significantly influenced by their social environment. A person is not only the product of internal processes but is also shaped by environmental, cultural, and societal contexts. This multilayered structure is shaped by interactions at various levels: at the micro level through family and peer relations, and at the macro level through social ideologies, cultural codes, and symbols. Personal conceptions of the sacred are shaped by a psychological heritage interwoven with rituals, symbols, and cultural elements. Approaches that consider the interaction between the body, mind, and emotions conceptualize belief not only as a cognitive category but also as a neurological, physical, and behavioral whole. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology and includes an analysis of both national and international literature to investigate the dynamics of meaning-making and belief from a holistic standpoint. It concludes that spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer, yoga, mindfulness, ritual, and worship enhance psychological resilience, support well-being, and help individuals lead more meaningful lives. These practices appear to initiate a kind of self-healing process by establishing balance between mind, body, and soul. In conclusion, this thesis explores the integration of belief and meaning as not only theological but also existential, psychological, and sociocultural processes. It further investigates how thought techniques may strengthen one's capacity for conscious mental management. In Türkiye, there is a growing need for multidisciplinary and comprehensive research that evaluates belief through the lens of holistic psychology and the psychology of religion. The holistic approach provides a powerful theoretical and practical framework for reconstructing the individual's connection to the self, to others, and to the sacred in the face of a fragmented modern existence.
