Milli eğitim bakanlığına bağlı öğretmenlerin fiziksel aktivite, uyku kalitesi ve teknoloji bağımlılığı düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi: Çorum il örneği
(Hitit Üniversitesi, 2025) Kozan, Turan; Çiçek, Güner
This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical activity, sleep quality and technology addiction levels of teachers working in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Çorum. The population of this study, in which the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was composed of teachers working in the province of Çorum, while the sample consisted of 442 teachers (140 female, 302 male) between the ages of 25-65 working in public schools in the province of Çorum in the 2024-2025 academic year who voluntarily participated in the study. In collecting the data, the Personal Information Form, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Technology Addiction Scale (TAS) were used. The data were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 program. The distribution of numerical variables was evaluated with the Shapiro-Wilk test, and since they did not show normal distribution; Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied for intergroup differences, Dunn's test for multiple comparisons, and Spearman correlation analysis was applied for relationships between variables. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05. The reliability levels of the scales used were found to be high. The findings of the study showed that teachers' low physical activity level had negative but low significant relationships with sleep quality, social network use, instant messaging and technology addiction (p<0.05). Teachers who exercised regularly had higher physical activity scores, lower technology addiction scores and significantly better sleep quality (p<0.05). While no significant difference was found in terms of sleep quality according to gender, marital status and teaching level (p>0.05), male teachers had significantly higher levels of vigorous and total physical activity than female teachers, and high school teachers had lower levels of physical activity compared to other levels (p<0.05). In addition, instant messaging scores of female teachers and online game playing scores of single teachers were found to be significantly higher than married teachers(p<0.05). The results show that there are significant and interactive relationships between teachers' physical activity, sleep quality and technology addiction levels. In addition, it was determined that these levels exhibit differences according to some demographic and lifestyle factors. The low level of physical activity especially in high school teachers and the intensity of digital use in other institutions (kindergartens, special education practice schools, etc.) reveal the necessity of health and technology-based interventions specific to the educational level of teachers.
