SPOONERISM AS A SLIP OF THE TONGUE AND ITS STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE CONTEXT OF TURKISH EXAMPLES
(Selcuk Univ, Inst Turkish Studies, 2017) Sari, Isa
Although considered temporary errors in speech, slips of the tongue should be investigated and evaluated scientifically since they shape among various patterns and samplings, occur depending on different factors, and may give ideas on the process of the language mechanism. However, it is difficult to work on the topic since it requires a collaboration and joint work among different disciplines such as physic and psychology. Besides, slips of the tongue depend and best observed on natural speech and by this reason, attesting significant examples is troublesome and most of the time it is not possible to record relevant slips of the tongue. In this respect, studies on slips of the tongue could not make progress in both Turcology and Turkish linguistics. Slips of the tongue have several types, which are generalized and categorized on related studies. Spoonerism, which occurs in natural speech and shows phonological and morphological/lexical features in syntactic formations is one of the slips of the tongue. In this work, this kind of slip of the tongue will be tried to be explained along with some widespread examples from Turkish discourses, which is named caprazlama, makaslama, mubadele, karmacilik hitherto in the Turkish language. Some personal observations will also be touched upon and dealt with respect to the data found on the Internet and social media.

TOWARDS THE FUNCTIONS OF +lX AND ITS EXPANDED USAGE ON SOME ADJECTIVES
(Selcuk Univ, Inst Turkish Studies, 2019) Sari, Isa
Turkish provides significant data to typological linguistic studies when compared to other languages because of its dominant agglutinative quality. There are various suffixes in Turkish which retain their productivity beginning from the first attested documents under derivational and inflectional categories, as well as other suffixes copied into or copied from Turkish. Among the wide suffix stock, lX is one of the most productive and operational suffix which mostly attaches to nouns and principally generates temporary adjectives as well as permanent nouns in Turkish and other Turkic variants. The suffix +lX diversifies the semantics of root or stem attached to via various semantic ties and contents. With this aspect, it is amongst the most used and preferred suffixes to enrich the vocabulary and to name new concepts. In as much as, there are hundreds of different words coded in both written and mental lexicon in Turkish produced with this suffix, in relation with various semantic properties like possession, ownership, belonging, denotation of places names etc. In the present study, its attachment to adjectives like korkunc 'scary', komik 'funny', asil 'noble', super 'super' which brings out new adjectives besides nouns, that are not attested before, will be evaluated and by this means, expansion on the function of producing adjectives from adjectives of the suffix will be put forward.
