Öğe Problems of mining education at Turkish universities: past, present and future(Elsevier Science Bv, 2015) Deniz, VedatIn this paper, the history of modern mining engineering education at Turkish universities from 1924 until today is briefly explained. So far, the number of departments of mining engineering adds up to 28 and second program is provided by 12, and the number of programs of mining engineering in total have been 40. Consequently, the problems these departments are facing in mining engineering education are mentioned, as well as some researches carried out and work opportunities for mining engineers. Published by Elsevier Ltd.Öğe The effects of ball filling and ball diameter on breakage kinetics of barite mineral(Korza Matbaacilik, 2011) Deniz, VedatBarite is an industrial material that is used in many applications such as a filler in paint, paper and plastic, etc. In these industries, ultrafine grinding of barite mineral is generally needed. The absolute fineness of the ball diameter and the ball charge grading are important factors for the optimal operation of a ball mill. Therefore, the effects on breakage kinetics of the ball diameter and the fractional ball filling were investigated on the barite at batch grinding conditions based on a kinetic model. For this purpose, firstly, nine different mono-size fractions were carried out between 2.8 mm and 0.106 mm formed by a ?2 sieve series. Then, Si and Bi,j equations were determined from the size distributions at different grinding times, and the model parameters were compared for three different ball filling (25%, 35% and 45%) and three different ball diameter (15 mm, 25.4 mm and 40 mm). Finally, model parameters were discussion for every test. The result of tests, the effect of ball filling and ball diameter on the grinding was found more different in terms of some results than other investigators.Öğe Modeling of grinding process by artificial neural network for calcite mineral(IEEE, 2011) Umucu, Yakup; Çağlar, Mehmet Fatih; Gündüz, Lütfullah; Bozkurt, Volkan; Deniz, VedatThe grindability properties of calcite sample belong to Afyonkarahisar region were investigated at batch grinding conditions based on a kinetic model. The obtained kinetic model parameters were used to estimate the product size distribution by artificial neural networks (ANN). Then, the experimental and neural network prediction results are compared. © 2011 IEEE.
