The consequences of perceiving animals as economically valuable commodities are analysed in the sectors in question. Animal welfare has become an increasingly important issue in modern societies. In this context, the exploitation of animals for economic gain leads to ethical and social issues. The aim of this dissertation is to evaluate the effects of the commodification of animals on animal welfare and to elucidate the functioning of this process. The key research question is how the practices of these sectors, shaped by economic concerns within the capitalist system, affect animal welfare. This study is based on the hypothesis that the commodification of animals leads to negative consequences for their welfare. In this regard, the study will attempt to determine the impacts of practices in the food, tourism, and fashion sectors on the living conditions of animals. Qualitative methods will be used in the research, with an analysis supported by a literature review and case studies. This dissertation distinguishes itself from existing studies by offering a holistic perspective that addresses the responsibilities of sectors in the context of animal welfare. Although there are sector-based studies in the existing literature, this research aims to provide a comprehensive analysis by evaluating three sectors together. This study aims to raise awareness of animal welfare policies and contribute to the development of ethical approaches within the sectors. At the same time, it will contribute to the literature by offering a new perspective to the academic discussions in the relevant fields.Bu çalışma, hayvanların metalaşmasının hayvan refahı üzerindeki etkilerini gıda, turizm ve moda sektörleri bağlamında incelemektedir. Söz konusu sektörlerde hayvanların ekonomik değer taşıyan mallar olarak görülmesinin sonuçları analiz edilmektedir. Hayvan refahı, günümüz toplumlarında giderek daha fazla önem kazanan bir konu haline gelmiştir. Bu bağlamda, hayvanların ekonomik kazanç uğruna sömürülmesi etik ve sosyal sorunlara yol açmaktadır. Bu tezin amacı, hayvanların metalaşmasının hayvan refahı üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmek ve bu sürecin nasıl işlediğini ortaya koymaktır. Temel araştırma sorusu ise kapitalist sistemde ekonomik kaygılarla şekillenen bu sektörlerin hayvan refahına yönelik uygulamaları nasıl etkilediğidir. Çalışma, hayvanların metalaşmasının refah üzerinde olumsuz sonuçlar doğurduğu hipotezine dayanmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, gıda, turizm ve moda sektörlerindeki uygulamaların hayvanların yaşam koşullarına etkileri tespit edilmeye çalışılacaktır. Araştırmada nitel yöntemler kullanılacak; literatür taraması ve örnek olay incelemeleri ile desteklenen bir analiz gerçekleştirilecektir. Bu tez, hayvan refahı bağlamında sektörlerin sorumluluklarını ele alan bütüncül bir bakış açısı sunması bakımından mevcut çalışmalardan ayrılmaktadır. Mevcut literatürde sektörel bazda yapılan çalışmalar bulunmakla birlikte, bu araştırma üç sektörü bir arada değerlendirerek kapsamlı bir analiz sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Bu çalışma, hayvan refahı politikalarına yönelik farkındalık yaratmayı ve sektörlerde etik yaklaşımların geliştirilmesine katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.
