| dc.description.abstract | Sözlü veya yazılı iletişim farklı diller ya da farklı kültürler arasında gerçekleştiğinde, bunu sağlayan araç yalnızca dil değil, aynı zamanda iki dil arasında köprü görevini üstlenmiş olan çeviridir. Bir edebi eser doğduğu kültür içerisinde yazarın okuyucu ile iletişime geçmesini sağlarken, aynı eserin çevirisi de çevrildiği dilin kültürü içerisinde yazar ve okuyucu arasında bağ kurar. İşte bu noktada şu sorular dikkat çekicidir: Bir eser çevirisi, eserin doğduğu şekliyle, başka bir dildeki eşdeğeri gibi mi çevrilmeli yoksa çevrildiği dilde ve çevrildiği kültür içerisinde yeniden mi doğmalı? Bu sorulardan ortaya çıkan basit zıtlık, aslında çeviribilimcilerin yıllardır hatta yüzyıllardır üzerinde durduğu, çeviri kaynak metne ve kültüre mi yoksa hedef dil ve kültüre mi daha yakın olmalı tartışmasını akla getirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, William Golding’ in Lord of the Flies eserinin iki farklı çevirisi Toury’ nin çeviri normları çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Bulgular, Mina Urgan’ ın hedef odaklı, Müge Tayşi’ nin ise daha çok kaynak odaklı çeviri yaklaşımı benimsediğini göstermiştir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | When communication, oral or written, takes place between different languages or different cultures, then the medium of communication cannot be the language alone but the translation as well, as the bridge between two languages. A literary work leads the author to the readers in its original culture and the translation of this literary work takes the author away to the readers of that language and culture. Here, these questions draw the attention: Should a translated literary work be exactly the equivalent of its original? Or else should it be recreated in its target language and culture? This simple discrepancy revealed associates with the discussions about source oriented or target oriented approaches to translation. In this study, two translations of Golding’s Lord of the Flies are analysed through Toury’s translational norms. The results show that Mina Urgan adopts target oriented approach whereas Müge Tayşi mostly employs source oriented approach to her translation. | |
