dc.description.abstract | Vitamin D is an essential precursor to the steroid hormone calcitriol which mainly regulates calcium homeostasis. Moreover anti-proliferative, proapoptotic, anti-angiogenic effects of Vitamin D support the ideas of preventive role in various cancer. This study aimed to determine if there is a relationship between HPVDNA infection and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and Vitamin D deficiency. As a result of the study the difference of 25-OH Vitamin D3 levels between HPVDNA positive group and the control group were statistically significant (p=0,009). According to results of our study, with the proven anti-inflammatory functions of Vitamin D, the deficiency of these molecule and its metabolites can be a possible reason for HPVDNA persistence and related cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. © 2016 Old City Publishing, Inc. © 2016 Old City Publishing, Inc. | |
